ServiceNow Grew 22 Percent Last Quarter. Here's Why That Number Matters for Your Career

Subscription revenue of $3.67 billion, $27.7 billion in future commitments, and Now Assist customers growing 130 percent. The financials tell a career story, not just an investor story.

Most people scroll past earnings reports. If you're building a career in the ServiceNow ecosystem, this last one deserved a closer read.

ServiceNow reported first quarter 2026 results on April 22, and the numbers beat the high end of the company's own guidance. Subscription revenues came in at $3.67 billion, up 22 percent year over year. Total remaining performance obligations, the contracted future revenue customers have already committed to, reached $27.7 billion, up 25 percent. The company raised its full-year subscription revenue outlook to a range of $15.7 billion to $15.8 billion.

Two numbers matter more than the headline figures.

First, customers spending over $1 million annually on Now Assist grew more than 130 percent year over year. That's enterprises putting serious money behind AI on the platform, not running pilots. Second, ServiceNow closed the quarter with 630 customers spending over $5 million a year, up about 22 percent. Existing customers are spending more, and the number of big accounts keeps climbing too.

The company keeps expanding what the platform covers. ServiceNow closed its acquisition of security firm Armis in April, a deal valued at roughly $7.75 billion, pushing further into cyber exposure management and connected-device visibility for enterprises, government agencies, and critical infrastructure operators.

Here's the career translation, because that's the lens I care about.

Every dollar of that $27.7 billion in committed revenue represents implementation work, administration work, integration work, and optimization work that someone has to do. Platforms with this kind of contracted growth create multi-year demand for skilled people. When people ask me whether ServiceNow is worth the investment, the evidence I point to is this: you're not betting on a niche tool. You're betting on infrastructure that hundreds of the world's largest organizations have signed long-term commitments around.

For employers, the same numbers explain why hiring keeps getting harder. Demand for the platform is compounding faster than the talent pool is growing, and the people who combine platform depth with AI implementation experience are the scarcest of all.

Growth like this doesn't guarantee anyone a job. But it does mean the surface area of opportunity keeps getting bigger. The people who commit to learning this platform deeply keep finding more room to grow into, not less.

The Platform Path is being built around exactly this kind of long-term platform bet. If you want in when doors open, the early-access waitlist is right here on this site.
