The Platform Path vs. University IT Certificate Programs
A university's continuing-education IT certificate carries a recognizable name. It's rarely built around ServiceNow specifically, and it's priced like a university program because it is one.
Continuing-education and extension programs at universities offer general IT and cloud-administration certificates, and some touch on ServiceNow as one module among several platforms covered. The name on the certificate carries weight in some hiring conversations. The content underneath it is usually built for breadth across the IT field, not depth on any one platform.
What "general IT certificate" actually covers
A survey of concepts: service management theory, maybe a unit on ITIL, maybe a unit that mentions ServiceNow alongside two or three competing platforms. That's a reasonable foundation if you're deciding which platform to specialize in. It is not the same as a program built end to end around the CSA exam blueprint and a real ServiceNow instance.
What that costs you in practice
University continuing-education pricing reflects university overhead, not the narrower scope of what you're actually trying to learn. You're often paying institutional rates for a fraction of ServiceNow-specific content, then still needing a ServiceNow-specific path afterward to actually get certified and job-ready.
The actual trade-off
A university certificate is worth having if your goal is a broad IT credential and ServiceNow is one interest among several. If ServiceNow is the specific target, a general program priced like a university course is expensive scope for a narrow need.
The Platform Path is being built around exactly this kind of ServiceNow depth from the first day, not a survey course with a university markup. If you want in when doors open, the early-access waitlist is right here on this site.
