The Platform Path vs. Udemy ServiceNow Courses: Cheap, But Cheap How
Udemy's ServiceNow catalog is enormous and priced anywhere from ten dollars to over a hundred depending on the day's sale. Here's what that price actually buys.
Search "ServiceNow CSA" on Udemy and you'll get dozens of results, priced anywhere from ten dollars to over a hundred depending on the day's sale. Udemy's pricing is famously volatile, which is itself a signal about what you're buying: a video library, not a service.
That's not automatically bad. Some of these courses are made by people who genuinely know the platform. But the format has a ceiling built into it regardless of who's teaching.
What the format actually is
Recorded video, a downloadable slide deck, maybe a quiz at the end of each section. You watch, you follow along in your own sandbox if you bother to open one, and you move to the next video whether or not what you just watched actually landed. Nobody is grading your work because there's no work to grade, only comprehension checkboxes.
Where that breaks down
The CSA exam's heaviest domain, Database Management and Platform Security, is 30 percent of the exam and the least video-friendly material there is: ACLs, data schema, and the shared responsibility model are things you understand by breaking them yourself, not by watching someone else break them. A video can show you an ACL rule working. It can't tell you why yours didn't.
The actual trade-off
A well-made Udemy course is a reasonable primer, especially at ten dollars. It is not, and was never designed to be, a substitute for someone checking your actual configuration work. The gap between "watched the video" and "can defend this build in an interview" is exactly where a video-only format runs out of road.
The Platform Path is being built around exactly this kind of reviewed, hands-on progression, not another video queue. If you want in when doors open, the early-access waitlist is right here on this site.
